Regional Sales Manager (Germany)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for representing Cyan and selling Cyan products into Germany and extend to other Eastern Europe countries. This includes but is not limited to establishing the regional sales strategy, forecasting and delivering revenues, and managing the regional budget. This individual will also be responsible for recruitment, development and management of partner relationships within a designated territory to help facilitate sales through select value added resale partners and distributors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and management of the regional sales strategy to achieve defined objectives
  • Identifying and cultivating relationships with key prospective customers and quickly building a strong reference customer base through both direct and in-direct sales
  • Establishing product and messaging expertise to effectively represent and sell Cyan products to service providers in the assigned territory
  • Interlocking on a revenue plan and then managing the business to consistently meet or exceed revenues within agreed quarterly targets
  • Identifying, recruiting and managing relationships with select value-added resellers and distributors for the fulfillment of certain customer orders
  • Acting as overall consultant and corporate liaison to partners
  • Supporting the sales input to product management, including the input on key competitor and market trends for product line planning
  • Taking ownership of making and meeting objectives, overcoming challenges, and working with corporate to establish business processes and practices to effectively sell to and support customers in the region 
  • Perform duties as assigned by Cyan

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong demonstrated selling skills with 5+ years experience, with a track record of achieving assigned quotas, leading coordination of and responding to complex proposals while working successfully with integrators and resellers in a joint selling capacity
  • Sufficient business and technical expertise to effectively engage with senior business executives and engineers in selling optical transport equipment and/or carrier Ethernet switching equipment to communication service providers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both German and English
  • Practical working knowledge of optical transmission systems, Ethernet systems and services, SONET/SDH systems and services, OSS and network management systems
  • The ability to synthesize complex technical and market considerations with product capabilities to effectively represent and sell the value of Cyan's products for service providers
  • Self starter with attention to detail
  • Substantial regional travel required

  • Individuals with a demonstrated ability to transition from individual contributor to team builder and leader
  • Sufficient technical expertise to effectively sell complex systems with limited systems engineering support
  • Experience in working with innovative US based equipment providers and selling to European service providers
