Cyan Z33

The Cyan Z33 is the access edge, and aggregation optimized member of Cyan’s Z-Series multi-layer transport platforms. Cyan Z-Series systems provide a compelling and economically efficient approach to scaling network capacity while simplifying planning and operations.

 

At just 5RU in height, the Z33 balances modular flexibility with low costs. Optimized for packet and the transition of TDM to packet, the Z33 supports advanced Ethernet switching and transport over connection oriented Ethernet, SONET/SDH or wavelengths.

 

Recognizing the continuing role of ATM and TDM in many networks, the Z33 optionally supports advanced SONET / SDH multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP) functionality.

 

Rounding out support for wholesale, wavelength services and the need to muxpond and transpond certain services, the Z33 supports a complete range of transport requirements, with integrated OTN encapsulation.

 

Driven by IPTV, VOD, 2/3/4G wireless backhaul, Carrier Ethernet and rapidly scaling internet services, the Cyan Z33 grooms services into discrete high capacity 10G wavelengths. As services scale, the Z33 provides the option to transport multiple 10G wavelengths per fiber using dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM).

 

With a holistic approach to the transport network, the Cyan Z-Series enables scalable, service rich networks with operational simplicity and capital efficiency.

 

 

The Cyan Z33 provides 6 multi-service slots, plus two common control modules to support multi-layer add/drop multiplexing (MADM) and transport in a compact 19” (483 mm) wide chassis.

 

The Z33 supports a range of powerful Z-Series Ethernet switch, SONET/SDH MSPP, muxponding, transponding and regeneration modules to support the full range of packet, TDM, and wavelength services. All service modules support pluggable SFPs / XFPs for pay as you grow economics.

 

Optional DWDM modules incrementally enable the Z33 to support optical to electrical to optical (OEO) add/drop multiplexing of up to 4 or 8 10G channels per fiber or up to 80G of transport capacity per fiber pair. Optional WSS and AWG modules further enable the Z33 to support full optical level (OOO) add/drop multiplexing across up to 40 10G channels per fiber or 400G of transport per fiber pair.

 

With support for over 100 Gbps of protected packet throughput per slot, the Z33 is designed to support an easy migration to higher channel counts and higher capacity 40G/100G channels in the future. This design sets new industry benchmarks for functionality and scalability in just 5RU of rack space with amazing economics.
